U.S. accused Iran's state oil company in connection with the Revolutionary Guards

Administration of the United States of America reported to Congress on the relationship of the Iranian state oil company, National Iranian Oil with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). This organization is suspected of involvement in Iran's program to enrich uranium.

The U.S. Treasury did not find an association of National Iranian Tanker, tanker fleet management of the country with the IRGC.

Theoretically, exposing links may open the door to sanctions on foreign financial institutions that do business with the company.
In particular, the U.S. financial system, access to them may be blocked. But current law obligation to apply such measures does not.



At present, several countries, including Japan, China, India and South Korea, are excluded special decision of the U.S. administration of the sanctions regime. The exemption is 180 days and may be extended.
