Honduran government signed an agreement with the investor to create the country's 3 private cities. The document was signed in the Tuesday, 04/09/12. American company NKG was one of the partners of the Government of Honduras.
Each of the three cities, according to the memorandum will have its own tax system and its own laws. Who exactly will be the owner of these settlements, is not specified.
Start of construction of the first city planned for October. This will create about 5,000 jobs. The total number of people who plan to employ after the construction is not specified. Timing of the project is also not disclosed.
Private communities in Honduras to be built in order to improve the economic situation. Commenting on the signing of this document, Juan Orlando Hernandez, President of the National Congress of Honduras compared with Singapore and South Korea. He noted that sixty years ago, when they first began active industrialization, both countries the situation was much more difficult than that of the Latin American state.
Meanwhile, in this project there were also opponents. Against them, the representatives of the local population, who belong to the Garifuna people, because their land will be withdrawn for the construction of cities.
